When buying a new bike, the choice of the brand is one of the first questions to ask. Whether it is for the universe, the history, the quality, or the price, it is normal to think: is Kent a good bike brand?

I am a bike aficionado who researched for you important information about the brand to help you know if Kent bikes are good bikes.

Let’s get started.

What is the Kent bikes company?

The Kent brand was created in New York City in 1907 by Abraham Kamler.

The 116-year-old brand is mainly known for the conception of the design of bicycles at very low prices, which satisfy the needs of the most tight budgets.

What types of bikes does Kent make now?

Today, the brand offers on its website several categories of bikes: mountain bikes, road bikes, cruiser bikes, hybrid bikes, BMX bikes, and kids bikes.

In its catalog, we can find 187 different bicycles and frames.

Where are Kent bikes made?

Some years ago, in 1979 to be precise, the Kent company had developed its bicycle manufacturing business in New Jersey. Later, in the ’90s, all manufacturing was moved overseas for profitability reasons.

Following Walmart’s commitment to revalue American production, in 2014 Kent Bicycles decided to pivot part of its production to South Carolina.

Is a Kent bike expensive?

Overall, the prices correspond to the very low end of the market.

As for the Kent bicycle prices, the brand offers a wide range but on average a bike costs about 200$. (We do not take into account kids’ bikes which would distort the average price).

Where can I buy a Kent bike?

Many retailers are partners, including Amazon, Academy, Target, and Walmart.

The best thing for you to do is to go directly to the manufacturer’s website. A tool is set up to find a bike as easily as possible, in a store near you or, if the service is available, directly in your mailbox (if there is enough space of course).

How reliable are Kent bikes? Are Kent bikes good?

For a bike of this range, the models are as good as their price. In this category and range, one should obviously not be too demanding. The brand’s bikes are suitable for beginners or occasional use. The bikes are not ideal for intensive use and may disappoint the ones that are demanding in terms of performance. That being said, for children or for commuting, some models are a real bargain thanks to their low price.

Of course, a bicycle remains reliable if it is used as designed. Make sure you use your machine properly and maintain it regularly.

What is Kent’s Warranty?

On the manufacturer’s website, we can read:

The frame is warranted for the usable life of the bicycle. Kent International will replace the frame at no charge, should it fail in any weld point when the cycle has been used in a normal manner, and determined by our inspection. Kent will also replace the bicycle fork if it should fail at any weld point. You must receive prior authorization from Kent Customer Service, before returning any product or parts. All other components are warranted against defects for six months from the date of purchase when properly assembled and used in a normal manner.

So, is Kent a good bike brand?

Yes and no, let’s just say that his bikes are really geared towards a particular use which is a child or a beginner. The proposed models will quickly be disappointing for a person looking for specific performance.

Obviously, the price reflects limitations that are easy to imagine.

Thus, when buying your future bike, do not forget to take into account its possible limits.
