Is GT A Good Bike Brand? – GT Bicycles Review

When buying a new bike, the choice of the brand is one of the first questions to ask. Whether it is for the universe, the history, the quality, or the price, it is normal to think: is GT a good bike brand?

I am a bike lover who researched for you important information about the brand to help you know if GT bicycles are good bikes.

Let’s get started.

What is the GT bikes company?

The GT brand was created in Santa Ana, California in 1972 by Gary Turner and Richard Long.

The 50 years old brand is mainly known for having been a reference in innovative BMX bikes, but also for their “triple triangle” hardtail mountain bike, a mountain bike where the seat stays are directly attached to the top tube and not to the seat tube as on classic models.

What types of bikes does GT make now?

Today, the brand offers on its website several categories of bikes: BMX, MTBs, road bikes, electric bikes, and kids bikes.

In its catalog, we can find 100 different bicycles and frames.

Is a GT bike expensive?

Overall, the prices correspond to an overall mid-range.

As for the price, the brand offers a wide range. The cheapest model offered costs $200 (We do not take into account kids’ bikes which would distort the average price) while the maximum price is $6500.

Where can I buy a GT bike?

Many retailers are partners, including Bike24, JensonUSA, and many physical retailers around the world.

The best thing for you to do is to go directly to the manufacturer’s website. A tool is set up to find a bike as easily as possible, in a store near you or directly, if this service is available, in your mailbox (if there is enough space of course).

How reliable are GT bikes? Are GT bikes good?

From a bike of this range, the models are good, better than some people think. GT Bicycles is a long-established brand, and its reputation may have sometimes taken a beating because the brand was much less exposed than others. This hasn’t stopped GT from producing good, affordable bikes, which makes the brand competitive in its sector.

As for GT, I’d say don’t be swayed by those who criticize the brand, as they’re rarely people who’ve ever owned a GT bike. If you want to invest in a bike without breaking the bank, some models are a good opportunity to get a mid-range product that will last if properly maintained.

Of course, a bicycle remains reliable if it is used as designed. Make sure you use your machine properly.

What is the GT’s Warranty?

On the manufacturer’s website, we can read:

GT bicycles must be registered on or in person by a GT Retailer in order to activate the lifetime frame warranty described below.

Frames, excluding those listed below: Lifetime of the original owner.

Frames of Gravity, Freeride, Downhill, Dirt Jump and other ASTM Category Five Bicycles: Three years from original retail purchase.
Swing Arms, Chainstays, Seatstays, and Shock Links of Full Suspension Frames: Five years from original retail purchase.
GT Branded Forks and Unbranded Forks: The fork structure is covered under the frame warranty. The internal components are covered as GT Branded Components.

GT Branded Components: One year from original retail purchase.

So, is GT a good bike brand?

Also, when buying your future bike, do not forget to take into account its possible limits.
